Europe markets mixed with BP, Credit Suisse shares higher after earnings


The pan-European Stoxx 600 was flat in early deals, with the major bourses moving in different directions. Media stocks were the top performers, higher by 0.4 percent, on earnings. Vivendi rose as much as 5 percent after reporting first-half results.

On the other hand, chemicals led the losses in early deals, with Umicore down as much as 3 percent. The Belgian firm said Tuesday that its capital expenditure is going to increase in the second part of the year.

Looking at individual stocks, shares of Leonardo led the gains up by 7 percent on strong second-quarter results. The Swedish firm Hexagon also jumped above 5 percent after reporting second-quarter numbers above forecasts. At the other end of the benchmark, the U.K. housebuilder Travis Perkins dropped more than 6 percent after cutting its profit outlook.
